Information Needed to Bid 3D BIM Models from 2D Construction Documents
- 1. Complete set of the latest Architectural and Structural 2D construction drawings. If other disciplines are required, a complete set of all disciplines needed. These need not be hard copies. PDF or TIFF files of the drawings are the most common way to obtain this information.
- 2. If the building 2D CAD files are to be used to create the 3D BIM model, this is best known at bid time. The availability of the 2D CAD files is a significant time saver. This will greatly impact pricing. We can bid a project both ways if necessary.
- 3. Specification sections pertaining to BIM requirements. If the specifications do not require BIM 3D modeling, a list of your specific needs for the 3D building model.
- 4. A prioritized list of model production needs with target dates or absolute need dates.
- 5. Date, time, and method of bid submittal.
Information Needed to Bid Coordination or Collision Checking Services
- 1. This service is never bid as a lump sum. It is bid only on a per meeting basis. Job site and local office meetings are priced in 1/2 and whole day increments only. Internet based virtual meetings can be priced per hour if needed.
- 2. Specification sections pertaining to coordination meetings. If the specifications do not require coordination meetings, a list of your specific requirements for the coordination meetings.
- 3. The location of the meetings if it is not to be a virtual meeting.
- 4. The expected frequency of meetings.
- 5. A projected schedule of meetings if possible.
- 6. The number and type of contractors expected or required to participate.
- 7. Date, time, and method of bid submittal.
